THANK YOU from the White House to your house: Talking points for your weekend

PBPThanksAt PBP we have a lot to be thankful for and a lot to be excited about. And we have a special ask for you.

In the 3rd Open Government National Action Plan, The White Houseannounced that it “will work with communities, non-profits, civic technologists, and foundation partners to develop new commitments that will expand the use of participatory budgeting in the United States.”

We’re thrilled that the White House is working to expand PB – a sign of how far we’ve come. In just a few years we’ve grown PB in the US from a tiny experiment to an award-winning model of civic engagement.

Your work – as volunteers, advocates, and supporters – opened the door for thousands of people to decide how to spend millions of dollars.

Thank you! Now let’s do more to charge through this open door! Let’s make the most of the White House commitment, and bring community control to hundreds of thousands more people.

This week, start conversations with your family and friends about transforming democracy. Talk about how PB is building a more participatory democracy, one in which people have direct power over what government does. Share these stories about diverse people coming together to decide together.

Bring your conversations online and join us on Facebook and Twitter with your ideas.

To fix democracy, we need lots of help. Thank you for doing your part.
