Vote for Inclusion!

By Maria Hadden, PBP Project Coordinator working on PB Chicago:

2012 PB Conference
The 2012 PB Conference in New York

Although PB has been practiced around the world for over two decades, experiences in North America are still relatively scarce and those in the U.S. are still very new.  I don’t know about you, but one of the best ways I’ve found of improving upon my work is by sharing it with, soliciting feedback from and dialoguing with others.  This past March in New York City we held the first International PB Conference in the U.S.  It was a great success!  We had speakers and 250 attendees from all over the country and the world come together to talk about their experiences with and goals for PB in North America.

Attendees had the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life around the economic and civic engagement challenges facing their communities.  While we do our best to provide information on our work and experiences through our newsletters and website, sometimes there’s nothing like getting a bunch a people together in one space to learn with and from one another.

The 2013 conference will be in Chicago, and will coincide with the community vote in the four wards in PB Chicago this year.  Here at PBP, we deeply value inclusion, and as such strive to make our events as accessible as possible.  Your vote for Travel Funds for Conference Participants will provide airfare and accommodations for five low-income conference participants.  It will bring more diverse voices into the conference discussions, and help support PB in communities with the greatest needs. Vote for inclusion!
