April 20th: Join us to celebrate these PB Champions!

We are thrilled to announce that at this year’s NYC PBParty Benefit we will be honoring the Red Hook Initiative, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, and the Cloudburst Group.

Join us on April 20th, 6-9:30 pm, at BRIC to celebrate these PB Champions who are building a more democratic, collaborative, and just society from the bottom up.

Community Activist Award
Red Hook Initiative

RHI is a community organization in Red Hook, Brooklyn, who believes that social change to overcome systemic inequities begins with empowered youth. For three PB cycles, RHI has hosted a Youth Committee who serve as delegates, mobilize youth and adults to engage in PB, and coordinate and staff vote sites.

Government Leadership Award
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams

Last year, the Brooklyn Borough President committed $1 million to participatory budgeting, becoming the first non-city council member to allocate funding to this community driven budgeting process. He is committing another $1 million in 2017 funding to PB, and is eager to grow this transparent budgeting movement even further in future years.

Organizational Ally Award

The Cloudburst Group

A majority woman-owned business, The Cloudburst Group has supported PBP in scaling up PB to the federal level, especially for Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds. It helped launch the first PB process for federal funds, for Oakland’s Community Development Block Grant funds.
