Thank you to the more than 80 community members who joined us and our friends at Healthy Democracy to learn about how government by the people is growing through participatory budgeting and civic assemblies.  We left the call feeling energized about all the vital work that’s happening to reimagine and rebuild our democracy to center the power and wisdom of everyday people.  

The call led to a lot of resources to help us keep up the momentum!  Check out the recording and the slides from the event, as well as resources shared by attendees during the call:

• Abundant America, a network of state and local elected leaders, candidates, business leaders, experts and donors working together to build an abundant America from the ground up.
• The Iswe Foundation, an independent innovation centre working with communities, movements, governments, and institutions to catalyse a global shift towards participatory political systems fit for the future. See also this recent article from the CEO of the Iswe Foundation. 
• An article from Jill Carlson and M. Jahi Chappell with the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy on deep forms of democracy and how they can be applied to food systems.
• Democracy Without Elections, a member-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes the use of democratic lotteries to bring power back to the people. 
• A scoping toolkit from the Participatory Budgeting Project to help those who want to advocate for participatory budgeting in their own communities, and PBP’s technical assistance webpage offering support for PB processes.
• Recent examples of using participatory budgeting processes in Boston and in San Francisco’s District 7, as well as the city of Hayward and the city of Oakland, both in the East Bay region.
