Participatory Policy-Making Learning Exchange

This graphic presents a vision for participatory policy-making rooted in equity, accessibility, and significance. It’s the result of a learning exchange event the Democracy Beyond Elections coalition convened.

Details

Building an inclusive and equitable participatory democracy is a key strategy for fighting exclusion, oppression, and corruption. As part of this work, the Democracy Beyond Elections coalition convened a community of people dedicated to reshaping policy-making in ways that center community-led decision-making, equity, and accessibility. Check out resources from the event below, including a beautiful graphic report-out and an event recording.

This event was co-hosted by the Participatory Budgeting Project, the Center for Popular DemocracyHealthy DemocracyPB Oregon, and We Power Policy.

This graphic—created by Adriana Contreras—captures the rich conversations practitioners, organizers, and community members had as part of our Participatory Democracy Learning Exchange.

Our event recording features partner presentations and highlights from small group discussions on how to make policy-making more participatory and equitable.
